Stop words are common words which are always used in documents and web pages that search engines consider them as meaningless and not worth indexing.  Some search engines don't index these common words in order to save more space or to speed up searches. So in effect, the stop words on your web pages are ignored as if those words weren't on your web pages in the first place.

Below is a short list of words ignored by search engines:
a
able
about
above
according
across

b
back
backward
be
became
been

c
came
can
cannot
causes
c'mon

If these words are used frequently in your site’s Titles, it can affect your overall Search Engine Optimization (SEO) efforts. They effectively waste valuable space, especially in the Title tags. Placing a lot of stop words in your Title tags waters down its keyword density.

It is recommended to omit these words from your Title tags if possible in order to improve the Title tag score which is a major factor for on-page optimization.
